Despite all of the change and unrest in the Middle East, the United States has made clear their intention to focus on SE Asia and impede China's growing influence in the region. Recent diplomatic events in Australia and Myanmar are part of a strategy to maintain a strong U.S. presence in the region, even with a slimmed-down military. Should this be the U.S.'s top priority? How should China react? Are these steps ensuring a peaceful rise for China, or are they meant as a provocation?
