Maasai elder and warrior, Sabore Ole Oyie, discusses growing up Maasai (including the rites of passage for becoming a warrior and the challenges of maintaining traditional culture in the 21st century). Oyie will also talk about the importance of education for young Maasai women, and his work as a community leader to ensure access to fresh water to the 9000 residents in the Ewaso Nyiro region, 2-½ hours southwest of Nairobi, Kenya.

Maasai elder and warrior
Sabore Ole Oyie is a Maasai elder and warrior. He uses his experience and knowledge gained from his formal education and his warrior training to educate the community on the importance of school and traditions. As second-in-command to the chief, he emphasizes youth education and economic development for his community. In addition, he is also a cultural ambassador for Kenya.
