Events | Headline and Cultural Forums

Join us for a talk with Dr. Thomas Bartlett, former President of the American University in Cairo, on the events currently unfolding in Egypt. The talk will take place at the World Affairs Council of Oregon on Friday, July 12 at 12:00 p.m.

Millions throng Tahrir Square…Morsi ousted…Bloodshed in Luxor…El Baradei is in, then he’s out…Is this a military coup or a People’s Revolution? What is the role of the US? What’s next for Egypt and the region? Come and join the discussion.

Tom Bartlett has been President of the American University of Cairo twice—both times during periods of civil unrest and anti-American sentiment. A former UN advisor and Chancellor of Higher Education of Oregon, Arkansas, and New York, Bartlett has traveled in the Middle East at least three times yearly for the past 30 years and was most recently in Cairo in March.
