Jóvenes en Acción
15 visitors — Mexico
This summer we are looking for host families for 15 Mexican high school students visiting July 18-30. These young leaders are participating in Jóvenes en Acción, a program sponsored by the US State Department that aims to give Mexican students the skills and training to address issues of youth violence, substance abuse, and human rights in their communities.
The visiting participants are 15-18 years old, English-speaking, and are selected by the U.S. Embassy for the program. Hosts provide a bed, breakfast and dinner, transportation to and from the Council’s downtown office during program days, and an American home experience. Weekdays the visitors will visit youth groups, meet with civic leaders, attend workshops, and complete community service projects. The World Affairs Council provides lunches, cultural events, transportation to meetings and appointments, and a recreational activity one day each weekend.
