Waterfront Redevelopment

6 visitorsSerbia

The Council is excited to announce that an Open World delegation of six visitors from Serbia will be coming to Oregon for a one week program on Waterfront Redevelopment.  This group will need homestays in Portland from September 7 – 15, 2012.

Home stay hosts provide a spare room, breakfast and dinner, lunch on the weekend, transportation to and from the Council office, and an American home experience. We will provide lunches (M-F), cultural events, transportation to meetings and appointments, and full-day or half-day weekend activities for the delegates.

One delegate in the group will be using a wheelchair and we are in need of a host with a wheelchair-accessible home.  If you think you may be able to accomodate this participant please fill out the attached Accessibility Checklist in addition to standard host application.

The Open World Leadership Program is an international professional exchange program that brings small delegations of emerging leaders from Eurasia to the U.S. to experience American-style democracy, civil society and community life. Open World is active in Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Serbia, and Turkmenistan.  The program is operated by the Open World Leadership Center housed at the U.S.  Library of Congress.  More information about Open World can be found at www.openworld.gov.

This is an opportunity you won't want to pass up! If you are new to hosting, this fascinating group would be a great introduction to hosting. If you have hosted before, consider hosting someone from our Open World delegation from Serbia!
