In partnership with the U.S. Department of State and World Learning, the World Affairs Council of Oregon is recruiting Oregon participants for the Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP) in summer of 2013. IYLEP is a three week youth leadership program based in the U.S. for Iraqi and American teenagers ages 15-17.
Earlier this month the World Affairs Council was privileged to host up and coming Portuguese journalist Ms. Joana Latino Oliveira e Silva. As part of her U.S. State Department sponsored professional development program, she visited Portland for four days meeting with local media organizations.
Last month Noah Siegel, Director of International Affairs for the City of Portland, discussed efforts to expand the export economy of Portland and on a larger scale, how companies across the United States could expand into international markets.
In May, a group of 10 ecotourism professionals from Belarus visited Oregon through the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Community Connections Program. For three weeks participants explored sustainable tourism initiatives.
Teach Latin America: A Conference for K-12 Educators took place on Saturday, May 12th at Lewis & Clark College. This was the fourth conference in our Teach the World Educator Conference and Youth Forum Series.
