Global Classroom News: The Teach Latin America Conference

The immersive day-long event was attended by 130 dedicated and enthusiastic teachers and featured the artistry and knowledge of 20 amazing presenters. The conference introduced curriculum and classroom ideas on the Caribbean, Mexico, Central and South America and included a keynote, “Why Latin America Matters” from Alvin Adams, US Ambassador to Haiti & Peru; sessions on Mexican History & Contemporary issues; Cultural History of the Caribbean and the Diaspora; everyday life inChile, Argentina and the Andes; cultural activities and hands-on workshops in Dance & Martial Arts of Brazil; Indigenous Music of South America;
Mural Art of Costa Rica; the History of Hispanic People in Oregon; food, fun and an information fair/marketplace; and most importantly- teachable moments for every grade level and subject area!
