This October the World Affairs Council, in partnership with The Honorable Diarmuid O’Scannlain, united States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit, hosted an Open World Delegation of Moldovan judges.
Phoenix High School Social Studies teacher, Mary Burton, was selected to join Houston, Texas area educators on a trip to Saudi Arabia sponsored by Aramco Services. Many thanks to the Houston Council for making room for a teacher from Oregon.
The World Affairs Council is currently seeking host families for five Russian visitors and their bilingual facilitator who will be in Oregon from December 10–18 on a program focused on Social Services. The participants will range from members of government to social service providers and non-profit workers.
After nearly 15 years of being housed at Portland State University, our Global and Multicultural Resource Center (GMRC)—the centerpiece of the Council’s Global Classroom education program—has relocated to Council’s new offices in the Oregon Historical Society building.
The 2010 Spring Volunteers for the World Affairs Council lent their talents and energy to a variety of programs and events during the last several months.
